Dr. Stella M. Davies received her MB BS and
PhD in Molecular Biology from the University
of Newcastle upon Tyne in England. Currently
she is Jacob G. Schmidlapp Endowed Chair
and Professor of Pediatrics at the University
of Cincinnati, Director of the Division of
Bone Marrow Transplantation and Immune
Deficiency, and Executive Co-Director of the

understanding the genetic mechanisms
behind childhood cancer and patient
response to treatment. Her laboratory
conducts nationwide studies of children with
cancer and survivors of childhood cancer
to investigate the side effects of cancer
treatment and identify genetic variations that
can signal which children might suffer these
side effects. Dr. Davies is well published, with
authorship on over 200 research articles and
40 review articles and book chapters, and she
has served on the editorial boards or as an ad

on pediatrics, oncology, and transplantation.
She has also served on numerous society
committees, advisory groups, and government
panels, including leadership roles such as Chair
of the Research and Publications Committee
of the National Marrow Donor Program, Chair
of Advisory Committee (2007-2011) and Co-
Chair of the Pediatric Cancer Committee
(2004-2011) for the Center for International
Bone Marrow Transplant Research, and
